NICHE.LA PRESENTS “RETROW // CENSORIAL” LOS ANGELES, CA – On April 13, 2006 (12:00PM - 9:00PM), Niche.LA presents “Retrow // Censorial,” curated by Nic Cha Kim, featuring new work by Osman Khan and digital animation by Tawd b. Dorenfeld & thePOLYMORPHCrew. “Retrow /” returns many artists previously exhibited at Niche.LA since the July 2005 opening. Participating artists include John Edward Faulkner, J. Joseph Mahoney, Kjell Hagen, and Rex Bruce. “/ Censorial” explores ideologically grounded acts of censorship seen from 3 groups: Radical Islam, Neo-Christian Conservatists, and the Chinese government. Featuring new work by Osman Khan, the show comprises of (3) physical sculptures called Weapons for Ideological Warfare and a screening of a censored version of the Best Picture Academy Award winning movie, “Crash,” edited to conform to the ideologies eschewed.
